my story

My name is Amy Hedlund Rogde.  I am Dena'ina Athabaskan. I was born and raised in Iliamna Alaska. I grew up learning the subsistence life style of hunting and fishing.

​I learned to sew clothing from fur and leather from my grandmothers, mother and aunts. My culture and homeland is in everything I create. All the fur that I use is harvested by myself or my family. Or traded with family in other regions of Alaska.
I currently live and own a small shop in Soldotna Alaska.

The Silver Hand Seal

The Silver Hand Seal guarantees consumers that an article bearing the seal is an original piece of art created in the state by an Alaska Native artist living in Alaska. The seal may only be affixed to original articles of authentic Alaska Native art. The seals may only be used after receiving a permit from the Council.
